The Detroit Tigers had some heroics against Cleveland on Monday night.
After great performances on the mound by Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal and Guardians pitcher Matthew Boyd, it was up to each team's bullpen to close the door.

When the Guardians brought in Emmanuel Clase in the eighth inning, the score was tied at zero. Crace ended the eighth inning on a lineout by Wencel Perez. Clase returned in the ninth inning and struck out the Tigers' first two batters.
After two singles, Kelly Carpenter came to bat for Detroit. He hit a 423-foot blast on the sixth pitch from Crase. This gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead and they ultimately won the second game.
Carpenter initially appeared as a pinch hitter for Justin Henry-Malloy and had 1 hit for 2 at bats and 3 RBIs.

Skubal chose no decision. He allowed three hits in seven innings pitched and struck out eight Guardians batters. Will Best and Beau Briske sealed the game for Cleveland, limiting them to three hits throughout the game.
Boyd pitched 4 2/3 innings for Cleveland. He allowed only four hits.
The only Guardians players with hits were Stephen Kwan, Josh Naylor, and Brayan Rocchio, who made a good catch in left field during the game.

The American League Division Series is currently tied at one game each. The series returns to Detroit on Wednesday.
