From kissy-face sitdown on ‘The View’ to a tougher grilling on ‘60 Minutes,’ Kamala Harris is making news

It was a chilling moment.

No one expected Kamala Harris to be so harshly criticized on “The View,” which is made up of supporters of her candidacy.

But when Whoopi Goldberg loudly introduced her as “the next president of the United States,” it was a forehead-slap moment. ”

Yesterday's entire session was about in-kind donations to the Harris campaign.

KAMALA 2.0 Challenge?Make more news than just an ultra-friendly host

I know, they're not straight journalists, they're liberal commentators, slashing entertainers. They read the questions verbatim from the blue cards. That's exactly why she wanted to do the show.

There were some legitimate questions. How will her presidency differ from Joe Biden's? How will she handle borders? With a Category 4 storm bearing down on Florida, why isn't Ron DeSantis taking calls about hurricane preparedness?

Joy Behar then went on to talk about Trump's lies and asked how she could support him. This allowed the vice president to claim that President Trump was all about personal grievances, not the voters.

Kamala made good use of the forum, talking about her workouts and how she was doing with her kids when Joe Biden called after he left.

Bottom line: ABC's “The View,” the show launched by Barbara Walters (still in the news division), is even more embarrassing than I expected, with women bowing down to praise Harris and bash Trump. I was drinking it.

There were some legitimate questions, but Kamala circled around them, deflecting the ones she didn't want to answer and incorporating familiar talking points.

It was a good forum for her and this time she was ready to make news for the first time. In a move previously leaked to Politico, Harris advocated for Medicare to cover elderly care at home, not just in expensive facilities. This is the first new policy proposal she has made in weeks. She said she would pay for it by demanding deep discounts on certain drugs paid for by Medicare. Needless to say, she was not exactly cross-examined on this matter.

The women seemed in awe that Kamala Harris was there.

It was a completely different Kamala who appeared on the prime-time special “60 Minutes” that aired the night before.

Indeed, the newsmagazine show repeated some of her criticisms of Trump, with Bill Whitaker saying, “You accused Donald Trump of using racist metaphors about Haitian immigrants.''Ohio In Springfield, State. When it comes to birtherism, when it comes to Charlottesville, you actually call him a racist and a divisive person, but still Donald Trump. is supported by millions and millions of Americans.”

Veep's key response: “I think the American people want leaders who don't try to divide or degrade us.”

But Whitaker was bullish on the number of times Democratic candidates asked for follow-up when they made general statements.

Asked about the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, which said her plan would add $3 trillion over the next 10 years, Harris said economists like her plan and that small and medium-sized businesses The focus was on praising the company.

Mr Whittaker replied: “I'm sorry, Madam Vice President. The question was, how are we going to pay for it?”

This time, Harris said she would make sure billionaires and big corporations have to pay their “fair share,” but Whitaker expressed skepticism that Congress would approve it.

This was a question Harris didn't really have to answer.

“Tell me what the critics and columnists are saying. They say the reason so many voters don't know about you is because you've changed your position on so many things.” Whittaker said. “You were against fracking. Now you're for it. You were for loose immigration policies, now they're tough. You're for Medicare for All. Now you're not so much that people don't really understand what you are, what you believe in or what you stand for. ”

'60 Minutes' slams Trump for skipping interview, defends handling of Hunter Biden's laptop interview

Mr Harris responded: “For the past four years, I have served as Vice President of the United States, and I have traveled our country, and I have listened to people and looked for what is possible in terms of common ground. I believe we can build a consensus. “Translation: The world has changed, so we have to be realistic about what passes.

The interview was heavily edited, with Harris magically limiting her answers to two sentences, and the changes could be seen multiple times. It was an over-the-top 60 Minutes style, but I think that was a mistake. CBS should have aired the entire episode, or most of it, unedited.

Scott Pelley said that President Trump had agreed to the interview, but withdrew after giving repeated explanations, including that the facts had not been checked.

By yesterday afternoon, Kamala had recorded an interview with Howard Stern. Mr. Stern has loved Mr. Trump since the days when he was rating women, and has been completely opposed to Mr. Trump as both a candidate and president.

Vice President Reacts to Bob Woodward's upcoming book that says President Trump secretly sent a coronavirus test machine to President Vladimir Putin during the pandemic (despite the former president's denials) “I believe Donald Trump has a desire to be a dictator. He admires the strong, and he benefits.” He is being played by them because he thinks they are his friends and they are manipulating him full time and manipulating him with flattery and favors…

“Is this guy who is the president of the United States sending them to Russia? Sending them to a murderous dictator for personal use?”

Stern called everyone's support for Donald Trump “infuriating” and “insane.” He told Harris he would vote for her, but could also vote for “that wall” over the former president.

Mr. Harris is finally making news. Imagine if she had started these interviews a few weeks ago.
