There Won’t Be ‘Significant Numbers’ of Black Men Voting for Trump

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) said Sunday on CNN's “State of the Union” that “a significant number of black men are not going to vote for Donald Trump.”

Dana Bash said, “A New York Times poll released this weekend shows Vice President Harris commanding 78% of likely black voters. This is the highest in 2020. That's nearly 10 points lower than President Biden's vote share, according to exit polls. One in five black men say they support Donald Trump. Why do you think that is?

“Listen, I'm telling you this morning that black men are not going to vote for Donald Trump in large numbers. Some may not be monolithic, but as black men in general and black men in particular, , who is Donald Trump? Consider the fact that this is the guy who literally put out full-page ads in New York these young teenagers who were accused of horrific crimes in the 1980s. And when it was proven that the five people who were acquitted, the Central Park Five, were actually innocent, Donald Trump said they deserved the death penalty. He didn't show any concern about it. He doubled down on his position without any remorse about it. This is him. And the black man has his own criminal issues and concerns to deal with. Look, we know the criminal justice system doesn't treat them the way it treats him.”
