Watch live: Trump courts voters in Detroit after swipe at city

Former President Trump is holding a campaign event in Detroit on Friday night, a week after criticizing the city during his last visit.

Trump is expected to slam his Democratic rival, Vice President Harris, in remarks focused on the economy, primarily inflation, employment and the auto industry. According to the campaign.

Harris' campaign attacked Trump during an appearance in the Motor City last week.

“If she were president, the whole country would look like Detroit,” Trump said of Harris at the time. “It’s going to mess up your hands.”

The vice president, who is still campaigning in battleground states on Friday, responded with ads attacking Republican candidates.

Trump leads Harris in the Great Lakes state by a narrow margin of 48.8% to 48.1%, according to Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters polling.

Trump's remarks are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
