Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. J.D. Vance unequivocally declared on Sunday that “Jesus is King.”
Speaking at a campaign rally in Wisconsin, Vance accused Vice President Kamala Harris of spewing “anti-Christian rhetoric” and promoting “anti-Christian” public policies. At that time, a rally attendee interrupted Vance's speech and shouted, “Jesus is King.”
“We're going to respect Christians.”
But instead of admonishing the rally attendees, as Harris did last week when some of them proclaimed the kingship of Jesus Christ, Vance stopped his speech and affirmed the declaration.
“Yes! Jesus is King!” Vance said.
Vance is an outspoken Christian; Baptized in 2019 As a member of the Catholic Church.
After affirming the kingship of Jesus, Vance condemned Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer's (D) “blasphemous” viral act mocking the Eucharist.
“I don't think we've ever seen anything like this in modern American politics,” Vance said. “Gretchen Whitmer does this really weird thing where she acts like she's giving communion to someone, but it's Dorit. And of course Gretchen Whitmer is not some kind of pastor. . Except for the church stuff, which I don't necessarily want to talk about — but think about how blasphemous it is and how offensive it is to everyone.”
“Frankly, whether you're a Christian or not, Donald Trump and I are going to fight for your right to live your values. That's the First Amendment. That's because it's protected by law,” Vance continued. “And whether you're a Christian, Catholic, of any other faith, or no faith at all, American leaders and Kamala Harris' surrogates are people of Christian faith. I think when we see someone insulting someone, we think, 'You're fired!' We should say, 'We're not going to give you any more power than this.' ”
Upon Donald Trump's second inauguration as president, Vance promised, “We will honor Christians.”
Vance's reaction to hearing “Jesus is King” was quite different from Harris' reaction to hearing the same declaration at a campaign rally last week.
During a lecture at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, two students They cried out, “Jesus is Lord” and “Christ is King.” resulting what they said was heckling From Harris' supporters.
But the moment Ms Harris appeared to pause her speech and address the students went viral on social media.
“You're at the wrong rally,” she jeered. “I think I was going to the little store down the street.”
