Democratic strategist James Carville said Monday on MSNBC's “The Beat” that he and host Ari Melber would be arrested if former President Donald Trump wins the election.
“When Trump goes into office and says he's going to use the military to arrest his political opponents, Mike Johnson and Lindsey Graham and the Wall Street Journal editorial page are like, oh no,” Carville said. That's not what he meant, and then he comes back and says, oh, that's exactly what I meant. You know what happens? If he wins, he will say, “I told people this was what I was going to do.'' I have a point about the legitimacy of the election, and I think he has a point too. ”
he continued. “People say, okay, what's at stake in this election, okay, the Constitution is at issue, I don't know if you're going to call it a constitutional republic, but I don't know what the uppity people are going to call it. But I understand, we're living under a set of laws that are literally at stake and he's telling you that. People want to know about the weaknesses of men of color. They're going to arrest you all. You don't think you have a stake in this election. guess what? It won't work very well. It won't work. It won't work. When the Paddy wagon comes, you and I will get in the back and jump around, and it won't be much fun, and they'll tell you, the judge said, 'Sorry, Melver. Mr. Carville, I'm sorry, but Trump said he was going to abolish the Constitution, and I have no choice but to enforce the democratic laws of this country. It will happen. That's not outlandish. ”
“I'm going to be as clear as I can based on the evidence,” Melber said. That's not entirely outlandish. ”
