The Biden-Harris administration's “smoke and mirrors” border plan hides the true scale of the immigration crisis during the 2024 election cycle, San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond revealed in an interview Monday. . glenn beck.
Desmond said that between September 2023 and June 2024, the Border Patrol released more than 155,000 foreign nationals onto the streets of San Diego County.
“This is not about securing the federal border, it’s about optics.”
Most of these people were dropped off at the Iris Avenue Transit Center, released by Border Patrol agents, and then hitchhiked to their next destination deep in the U.S. interior.
The Biden-Harris administration has come under fire for discharging on the streets and for negative views on using train stations as primary drop-off points for the San Diego area.
Desmond said the federal government has begun sending migrants by bus and plane to other border areas to reduce the number of street releases in San Diego County.
“The Border Patrol has about three buses a day transporting migrants to Yuma, Arizona, right off the California-Arizona line. , we have four flights going from San Diego to Texas, primarily McAllen, Texas,” Desmond told Beck.
“It's just smoke and mirrors. All they're doing is taking these numbers and they're not putting them on our streets anymore. It's very public and the press The agencies and everything else has access to it and we're hiding it on buses. We're going to send it to Arizona or we're going to fly it to Texas,” he declared.
Desmond noted that the population on the southern border may have declined in the past few months, but only from “record highs.”
Border officials told Desmond they planned to resume street stocking in San Diego County last Friday.
“So, unfortunately, I think we're going to go back to the mayhem that we had last month,” he told Beck. “That's what I'm afraid of.”
He noted that under the Biden-Harris administration, the San Diego area has become the largest border crossing and fentanyl site, and “one of the largest sites for human trafficking.”
Desmond also explained to Beck that several times a week, boats full of illegal immigrants wash up on the shore. The illegal immigrants then jumped from the boat and fled on foot into nearby areas.
“They just abandon their boats on the beach. They don't get checked, they don't get border security. They don't get fingerprinted,” he said. “It's been going on for months.”
Desmond criticized the state's sanctuary status, which prevents local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.
“California is a sanctuary state, which means local law enforcement cannot enforce immigration laws. So even these people who get off their boats and walk into our neighborhoods are not protected by local law enforcement. The institution can’t do anything about it,” he continued.
“There's very little that can be done locally about this,” Desmond added.
In the post of ×He wrote, “Border Patrol officials informed me last Friday that street stocking is scheduled to resume in San Diego County, increasing to more than 155,000 people in the past year. At hand, the federal government was concerned about the optics, so they bused illegal immigrants across the country from San Diego to Yuma, Arizona.
“This is a matter of optics for the Fed, not securing the border,” he concluded.
