Netanyahu Confirms Israel Behind Pager Attack on Hezbollah

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday reportedly admitted that Israel was behind the “pager attacks” that killed thousands of Hezbollah terrorists and disrupted the group's communications in September.

This pager incident is said to be the most successful targeted attack on terrorists in the history of the War on Terror. Although the damage to civilians was minimal, it caused significant damage to Hezbollah's infrastructure and personnel.

era of israel reported:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged for the first time at his weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday that Israel was behind the pager and walkie-talkie attacks on Hezbollah in September, according to quotes leaked to Hebrew-language media.

On September 16 and 17, thousands of pagers and walkie talkies laced with explosives were detonated on Hezbollah owners in parts of Lebanon and Syria.

Lebanon said nearly 3,000 others were injured in the attack. There was no distinction between civilians and members of terrorist organizations among the victims, and among the injured was Tehran's ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani. A Hezbollah official told Reuters a week later that the attack left 1,500 of the group's fighters incapacitated due to injuries, with many blind or having their hands blown off.

Israeli government spokesman David Mensah declined to comment on the report when asked at a briefing Monday.

Mensah confirmed that Prime Minister Netanyahu had met with US President-elect Donald Trump three times in the past week.

He also said that Israel is expanding the humanitarian zone in Almawashi, Gaza Strip, noting that Israel is working diligently to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The outgoing Biden-Harris administration has threatened to cut off arms supplies to Israel if the humanitarian situation in Gaza does not improve by November 13.
