A CIA official has been charged with leaking classified US documents about Israel's potential counterattack plans against Iran over the missile attack.
Asif W. Rahman, a top-secret secret agent who worked for the FBI overseas, was arrested by the FBI on Tuesday in Cambodia on suspicion of leaking information, according to reports. new york times.
The arrests came after top secret documents began to surface online last month revealing Israel's apparent intent to retaliate for Iran's Oct. 1 missile barrage.cent.
The file, created by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, includes detailed satellite images related to a possible attack by Israel, as well as the various types of missiles on hand.
They explained the US interpretation of the Israeli Air Force and Navy's plans using satellite images from October 15th.th and 16th. Federal authorities investigated the leak.
They said at the time that they were “working closely with our partners in the Department of Defense and the intelligence community.”
These files were intended to be viewed only by those with proper authorization in the United States and other members of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance. Members include Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Rahman, who has been taken to federal court in Guam to face charges, is charged with two counts of knowingly retaining and transmitting national defense information.
