A Staten Island man claims he is owed $600,000 in compensation for delays while traveling to France on Air France to attend his brother's funeral.
Nicholas Owoyemi will take an Air France flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on September 20th, connecting to Murtala Mohammed International Airport in his hometown of Lagos, Nigeria. It was.
But the trip went awry because Air France “unduely delayed” his connecting flight, he said in a Staten Island Supreme Court lawsuit against the airline.
Owoyemi, 66, who is representing him, said he owed the airline for the “emotional and financial burden” it allegedly placed on him on the round trip.
“They gave me a run and they lost my luggage, which I didn't find for three weeks,” Owoyemi, 66, raged to the Post. “They dropped the ball. It's terrible.”
Owoyemi was scheduled to arrive in Lagos at 9:40 p.m., according to his ticket, but instead arrived at 1 a.m. on September 21, court documents state.
As a result of the delay, Owoyemi and his companions “were unable to reach their destination and had to spend the night at a nearby hotel at an unnecessary but additional cost,” the court documents said.
Owoyemi said he made it to his brother's funeral in time, but his return to New York was delayed by more than five hours, and at one point Air France “rebooked” him onto a Delta flight that didn't list him. passenger.
