Radio host Charlamagne Tha God and former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said the “Morning Joe” co-host's controversial visit to President-elect Donald Trump's mansion was a ratings hit. He said it was just a game.
MSNBC co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, two of President Trump's fiercest critics in the media, revealed Monday that they met face-to-face with the president-elect at Mar-a-Lago last week, and that it was a significant moment. “But the truth is, they didn't suddenly see the light. They saw the ratings,” Haley suggested, and Charlamagne agreed with a laugh. “To be clear, they saw the ratings going down and realized, 'Oh, we better get along with Donald Trump or we're not going to have a show.'”
“This is a battle of ratings and revenue,” Charlamagne said. “What I don't understand is that if you don't like what someone is saying, if you don't like what someone is doing, why don't you just go talk to them about it and challenge them right then and there?” I think that's the case.
He added that some say Democrats need their own liberal media, but just appearing on platforms they criticize could start changing strategy.
“That's why the biggest problem is, even now, when you look at liberal people, they're like, 'Oh, the left needs Joe Rogan,' or, 'The left needs a conservative network like the right.' I think we are having conversations like this.'' 'No, why don't you raise your balls and go to these platforms? Why not talk to Joe Rogan? ” he said.

Charlamagne added that there is one Democrat who appears to be getting ahead of the curve with this tactic.
“Looking at what Governor Newsom is doing right now, I think this is a smart strategy. I mean, Governor Newsom isn't my favorite candidate, right? Or the candidate I'd be willing to support at this point. But I like his attitude.'' Charlamagne said that by appearing on news outlets such as Fox News, he is “meeting people where they are. I think that's something that at least a lot of Democratic politicians aren't doing.” They don't meet people where they are. ”
News of Trump's meeting with Scarborough and Brzezinski sparked a firestorm on the left, with MSNBC staffers slamming the co-hosts.

Meanwhile, President Trump praised the meeting as “very friendly.”
“I received a call from Joe Scarborough requesting a meeting with Micah, and we agreed that it would be a good thing for such a meeting to take place,” Trump told Fox News Digital. “A lot of things were discussed, and I'm very grateful for the fact that they wanted open communication… In many ways, it's too bad that it wasn't done a long time ago. .
“The meeting ended on a very positive note and we agreed to discuss things in the future,” he added.
