On Wednesday, SiriusXM's Megyn Kelly spoke to guest Dr. Casey Means about plans for former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to potentially lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “That sounds too optimistic,” he said, making that big prediction. The government may intervene to thwart his goals.
During the campaign, President-elect Donald Trump said he would work with Kennedy and former vice presidential candidate Nicole Shanahan to promote the “Make America Healthy Again” slogan and help address the nation's health challenges. I swore. On “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Mr. Means said he believed President Kennedy could accomplish some of his goals, such as cleaning up America's food system, but Mr. Kerry interjected and said that he was in Washington, D.C. He criticized Means for seeming to be “over-promising” about what could actually be done.
“I'm sorry to interrupt, but I saw your story and it was very moving. I think you were deeply affected by the loss of your mother, and I completely understand that. And you write so beautifully what that means, “When you lost her, and what you and she went through is dedicated to you,'' Kelly said.
“But this is my long conclusion to say that you're too optimistic. You're expecting too much. I'm a cynical reporter who makes a living covering Capitol Hill and politicians. I don't believe the people there are fundamentally good. I think they want to get paid,” Kelly added. “I'm very worried, [it]. I haven't seen it, but I think there are some major players in Big Ag.[riculture] Or the big pharmaceutical companies that are big Trump donors who are about to pick up the Batphone and say “RFK J.”[r]. It's a total nuisance, and I don't want them to crack down on the use of seed oils, pesticides, or processed foods. ”
Means went on to hit back at the SiriusXM host, emphasizing that President Trump's final term in office could be an incentive to avoid being swayed by donors. (Related: Exclusive: HealthShare organization urges incoming Trump administration to make 'fundamental' changes to FDA, health care system)
clock:
“I think we need to take at face value the words that have come out of Donald Trump's mouth lately. Donald Trump has eloquently expressed how he hopes his legacy will change the course of health in America. There's something behind it. I believe that his energy is real. As I said earlier, he is already a millionaire. He has many grandchildren and many children to worry about his health. You can't do that,” Means said.
“So I think there's a really great opportunity nexus where he might say, 'I don't care about the donors,'” Means added. “The fact is, he doesn't need a donor anymore, right? Because he's not running anymore. So maybe there's a window here where real change, uncompromising change, can happen. .”
Trump previously worked with Kennedy during his first term, but Democrats have harshly criticized his recent HHS nomination. Less than 24 hours after the announcement to Trump's Cabinet, corporate media pundits at MSNBC and CNN slammed Kennedy, saying his stance on vaccines is a danger to Americans. Those experts also questioned Kennedy's experience.
