Father of Georgia high school shooting suspect pleads not guilty

The father of Apalachee High School shooter Colt Gray pleaded not guilty Thursday to the 29 charges he faces, including two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of manslaughter.

Colin Gray, 54, did not appear in court after his attorney entered a guilty plea and rescinded his formal arraignment.

Her son, Colt Gray, 14, is accused of killing four people and injuring nine others in a mass shooting at a Georgia high school on September 4. He also maintains his innocence.

A Barrow County grand jury indicted Colt Gray in October on 55 charges as an adult, including four counts of murder and 25 counts of aggravated assault at a high school. Both he and his father face multiple charges of child abuse.

Colin Gray was arrested and charged with allegedly purchasing the firearm used in the shooting and giving it to Colt as a gift for Christmas.

The shooting killed teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Christina Irimy, 53, and students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14. Another teacher and eight more students were injured, seven of whom were struck by gunfire.

Georgia is one of 42 states in the nation that imposes criminal liability on parents on behalf of their children.
