Trump’s Deportations Will Boost U.S. Wages

President-elect Donald Trump's plan to deport large numbers of illegal aliens could lead to higher U.S. wages by preventing employers from relying on cheaper foreign workers, a new report says. It is suggested in the book.

A report by CalMatters, a California-based nonprofit news organization, says employers will have to pay more in labor costs as a result of mass deportations because foreign workers are cheaper to hire than American workers. I admit that.

Karmatters report:

Mass deportations promised by President-elect Donald Trump could have a devastating impact on the economy Advocates and academics said direct damage could cost billions of dollars in California to a wide range of industries, including small businesses, agriculture, construction and child care.

Replacing deported people can be costly. In the construction industry, for example, U.S.-born full-time workers earned a median weekly wage of $1,031 in 2020, compared to $786 for foreign-born workers, according to an analysis by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Ta. In California, the median hourly wage in 2021 was $30 an hour for U.S.-born workers, $24 an hour for immigrant workers, and $16 an hour for undocumented workers.according to the California Immigration Data Portal, a project by USC's Equity Institute directed by Rev. [Emphasis added]

The fact that employers tend to pay foreign workers, especially undocumented workers, less than American workers is part of the reason the California Chamber of Commerce opposes President Trump's mass deportation plan. It becomes.

Instead, the Chamber of Commerce is lobbying for amnesty for the country's 11 million to 22 million illegal immigrants. President Jennifer Barrera said:

It's no secret that undocumented workers contribute significantly to California's economy, given its geographic proximity to the border. That's why CalChamber has long supported comprehensive national efforts to provide these people with a path to citizenship and legal status while still in office. At the same time, we will also work on border security.

Breitbart News previously reported that construction industry executives are complaining that mass deportations under the Trump administration will displace many of their illegally employed foreign workers.

President Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance have long argued for a tighter labor market that forces employers to compete for workers rather than workers competing for scarce jobs.

Mr. Trump and Mr. Vance said strict enforcement of federal immigration laws would help protect the American labor market and ensure that Americans do not have to compete with cheap foreign workers who are often in the U.S. illegally. states that it is an important element.
