California man, who vanished 25 years ago, to reunite with family after picture in news article

A California man who was reported missing in 1999 has finally been reunited with his family after his sister recognized a photo of him that appeared in a USA Today article in April, the Lassen County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook. Published in a book.

LCSO received a call from a woman who told Sheriff's Deputy Derek Kennemore that the article had been sent to her and that the man in the article was her brother, who had not been heard from since her disappearance 25 years ago. I told him what I believed.

A GoFundMe, reportedly set up by the man's sister, says his family has been searching for the man since August 1999, when he disappeared without a trace.

According to the sheriff's office, Naseri asked Kennemore for help identifying a man who was admitted to a Los Angeles-area hospital.

When they contacted Kennemore, they learned the man had been transferred to another hospital in July.

The man is nonverbal, but detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department's missing persons unit took fingerprints and identified him as Naceri's younger brother.

Naseri was overjoyed by the discovery and said he had been searching for the “unidentified body” for some time.

“On November 22, 2024, I followed a lead of a living person. A photo of this person was published in USA News and I asked the public if anyone could identify the man in the photo. Found sitting on a curb in South Los Angeles.'' Long story short, the fingerprints confirmed the match! I had been looking for an unidentified body and found him alive. I'm glad I found it!” GoFundMe says.

She went on to explain that she is very far from where her brother is and that she is seeking help until a medical transfer is possible as he is learning to get back to normal life.

“I'm in Lassen County, 900 miles away. He's in Lynnwood, California. I've started a medical transfer to a facility in Lassen County. All we know is that he's walking. The only thing he has just learned is that he can eat normal food. Since he doesn't have money to buy the things he needs, he likes to draw, so this is all I'm sending him for now.” she wrote.
