John Fetterman says Democrats lost male voters by ‘insulting’ them, being ‘condescending’

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman candidly told fellow Democrats that he lost male voters to President-elect Donald Trump because he was “condescending” and “insulting.”

“It was clear [in 2016] That people were voting for Trump. And the Democratic response was, “Aren't they smart enough to realize they're voting against their own interests?” It's insulting and I mean, it's, I mean, it's not helpful,” said the 55-year-old. told the New York Times on Thursday..

“It's condescending. And if anything, it reinforces that kind of stereotype. If you tell them, 'I know better than you,' that doesn't help.”

Mr. Trump, 78, defeated Vice President Kamala Harris at the polls on Election Day, gaining significant support from male voters, especially blacks, Latinos and especially young men.

Fetterman also accused the left of overreacting to everything the 78-year-old President Trump does as he prepares for a historic second term in the Oval Office.

“All I'm saying is, buckle up and pack your lunch because this is going to continue for four years,” he said. “And if you have the choice to panic on the hour, that’s your right.

“But I don't do that. I'm not that guy and I'm not a Democrat. I'm going to pick my battles. If you get upset about everything, you lose any sense of relevance. Masu.”

Fetterman also spoke about billionaire tech tycoon Elon Musk (who will lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency with Vivek Ramaswamy under the Trump administration)'s feelings toward his “compatriots.” He emphasized “shaking.”

“Whether it's 'countryman,' which is a negative word that's probably used in your publications in a negative way, it's countryman, or man, blue-collar, just a human being. My In our opinion, it is very rare for surrogate mothers to have “fanboys”. tease [Musk] Otherwise, you downplay it or it becomes important, so you do it at your peril,” he told the Times.

“He was an active surrogate, which meant his checkbook came in handy. That wasn't really the deciding aspect for me. I was worried that he would have a lot of influence over some of the people who had been there.
