More Agree with Key Trump Policies than Oppose

According to a survey, more people approve of President Trump's major policies than oppose them. economist/your government

For example, a survey asked Respondents indicated whether they agreed with ending the automatic granting of citizenship to children born to illegal immigrants in the United States. The policy has more support than opposition, with 45 percent supporting it and 42 percent opposing it. As expected, a majority of Republicans (66%) support it, while a majority of Democrats (61%) oppose it.

The survey also found that a 57% majority support “funding the construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.” Of those, 37% “strongly” support funding for a wall on the southern border. Another 34 percent oppose such policies. However, most independents and Republicans (89% and 52%, respectively) support it.

The survey also found that 46% of people support President Trump's policy of drilling on federal lands. Another 35 percent disagree. Independents are split 40-40 on the issue, with a majority of Republicans (73%) in favor and a majority of Democrats (54%) opposed.

A majority supports banning transgender athletes from playing on women's sports teams, with 61% supporting and 25% opposing. 50% of supporters “strongly” support it. Interestingly, Democrats are divided on this issue, with 40% supporting and 40% opposing. A majority of Republicans (87%) and independents (56%) support banning transgender athletes from playing on women's sports teams.

When asked if they thought President Trump would actually ban transgender athletes from playing on women's sports teams, 70% said they believed Trump would do so.

The only issue that actually divided opinion was reducing the corporate tax rate from 21% to 15%. Slightly more people oppose the policy, at 41 percent, and 40 percent support it. Again, a majority of 2024 President Trump voters (64 percent) support it, compared to 70 percent of 2024 Harris voters who disapprove.

The survey was conducted between November 23 and 26, 2024 among 1,590 U.S. adults. There is a margin of error of +/- 3.2%.
