Users discussed how the altercation started in the comments section and shared their opinions about exit row seats.

Some users suggested that the passenger may have been joking to save himself.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), federal regulations require that people sitting in exit rows be able to understand verbal instructions, physically able to quickly activate evacuation slides; Must be able to open and lift emergency exit doors.

Southwest Airlines specifically emphasizes that passengers in exit rows must be able to “maintain balance while clearing obstacles,” according to the airline's website.

JetBlue's website states, “Airport crew members make the final decision on who will sit in exit row seats, even if seats are assigned prior to arrival at the airport.”

Delta's website states, “Due to the risk of entrapment, the use of seat belt extensions should not be required,'' and “The use of seat belt extensions should not require the use of seat belt extensions that could pose a risk of harm if required to perform applicable exit row duties.'' It must not be in that state.” ”
