President Trump recently called Bolton a “terrible job” after firing him in 2019, reportedly because of his extremely hawkish foreign policy stance. .

“Trump named Kash Patel his Lavrenti” [sic] Beria,” Bolton wrote. “Fortunately, the FBI is not the NKVD. [People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs]”

Bolton's statement was a reference to Lavrenty Beria, the head of the Soviet secret police under Joseph Stalin. He was notorious for orchestrating widespread surveillance and terrorism.

“The Senate should reject this nomination 100-0,” Bolton continued.

Bolton's denunciation of Patel comes after Patel revealed plans to “shut down the FBI Hoover Building on day one and reopen it as a deep state museum the next day.”

The historic nomination of someone considered an outsider to head the FBI has rallied Trump's allies. Some say they know Trump made the right choice, as establishment figures like Bolton are outraged by the nomination.

“John Bolton was wrong about everything, so I think Mr. Kash must be a pretty great guy,” Vice President-elect J.D. Vance wrote in an X post.

“I have to say, to all of you who are weeping and gnashing your teeth, who are pulling your hair, the very real reformers have come to the FBI and sadly have burrowed the corrupt… These are people who are disappointed in wiping out the partisans,” added Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Patel also wrote a book titled “Government Gangsters: The Deep State, Truth, and the Fight for Democracy,” which investigated the Trump-Russia collusion hoax.

Additionally, in October, Mr. Bolton held a debate with Mr. Trump ally and DOGE Director Vivek Ramaswamy, in which Mr. Bolton laughed at Mr. Ramaswamy and dismissed the idea that a “deep state” exists.

“The idea that we are run by the deep state is very paranoid,” Bolton said.

Mr. Ramaswamy responded by exposing the vast number of unelected bureaucrats infesting the federal government and changing the mindset of his audience in a survey conducted at the event.

“Tonight I debated American foreign policy, neocons vs. America First, with John Bolton at the Virginia Military Institute. Initially, 19% of the audience agreed with my position. In the end, 55% agreed with my position. By convincing our fellow countrymen, that's how we save America,'' Ramaswamy said in a social media post.
