US to send Ukraine $725M in new military aid, including land mines targeting N. Korea, Russia infantry

The United States plans to send another $725 million in military supplies to Ukraine, including rockets, landmines and anti-drone systems, as Kiev seeks more weapons to counter an escalating Russian offensive.

The U.S. shipment will include ammunition for Ukraine's high-mobility artillery rocket system, a U.S. official told The Associated Press. That means the weapons package could include more long-range missiles used by HIMARS.

Ukraine is seeking more missiles to strike deep into Russian territory, as it did late last month, after the Biden administration gave the green light for its own strikes against Russia.

Two U.S. officials who discussed the package with The Associated Press before the announcement would not confirm whether the new weapons shipment included rockets for long-range systems.

The move to ramp up U.S. weapons in Kiev comes as lame-duck President Biden seeks to spend every bit of military aid funding Congress approved for Ukraine earlier this year — especially with the incoming Trump administration. This is because it is unclear whether Japan will support Ukraine. It's an existential battle with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The new weapons package also includes landmines, which Ukraine will need to use to slow down Russian and North Korean infantry forces attempting to retake parts of Russia's Kursk region, which Ukraine captured this summer.

President Trump has promised to end the conflict “in one day.” But he never said how.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Ukraine on Monday for the first time in more than two years, pledging to support Kiev's fight for survival. This is an important message since Germany is Ukraine's second-largest military supporter after the United States.

The war between Ukraine and the aggressor Russia is reaching almost three years.

Last week, in a major policy shift, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy suggested that the “hot phase of the war” could end if: NATO proposes membership To the territory still controlled by Kyiv.
