Martina Navratilova has long been outspoken about transgender athletes in women's and women's sports.
In a new post for X, the tennis legend said he is “angry” that Republicans are tackling the national controversy rather than the Democrats he has been working with.
Navratilova shared a photo of Congresswoman Nancy Mace (RS.C.) and members of Gays Against Groomers holding up shirts that read “Save Women's Sports.”

“And I'm so angry that Republicans took this issue up. Shame on all the elected Democrats who are silent about this!!! #What's Happening to Women? ” she wrote to X.
This is not the first time Navratilova has criticized the left for differing views on the issue. The tennis legend appeared at the Independent Women's Forum's “Reclaim Title IX” rally in June, joining other prominent female athletes in speaking out against the Biden administration's policies. Navratilova said she and her fellow Democrats worked to create a level playing field for transgender athletes to participate in women's sports. However, upon further investigation, we determined that it was an impossible task.

“Initially, we are Democrats, and we are predominantly women, so we in this group are trying to get men who identify as transgender, men who identify as women, into women's sports. “I was trying to find every way to do it,” she said. “And the more we tried to find ways to reduce the advantage or handicap them or include them in some way, the more we found out that it was impossible to do it in a fair way. That is not possible, and here we are in a very different situation' position.
“As we dug deeper into this issue, we also saw the connection between women's sex-based spaces and women's sports. They are completely interconnected, and Penn swimmers can tell you all about it. You've probably heard of Leah Thomas, right? “
“Now, it's like, 'Oh, you're a homophobe.' You know, I've been out since '81, so yeah, I'm a homophobe,” she rolls her eyes. he said. “'You're a bigot, you're a transphobe, you're a Nazi, you're a fascist, you're a communist,' and everything in between. And this is coming from the left. In the middle is the left! My people are against me. They are against us women who claim rights based on women's sex. ”

Navratilova recently called Valentina Petrillo, an Italian sprinter who competed in the Paralympics as a trans woman, a “pathetic fraud.” In March, she called for “maintaining women's sports as feminine.''
