Kirk Herbstreit shares personal letter from President Biden after loss of beloved dog Ben

Less than a month after ESPN broke the heartbreaking news of the dog's death. college football Analyst Kirk Herbstreit shared a letter he received from President Biden expressing his condolences.

Last month, Herbstreit shared the news on social media that she had to make a difficult decision after adopting Ben, a golden retriever. Fight against cancer.

“It's really hard for me to write this, but because so many of you love and care about Ben, I wanted to let you know. Today we learned that the cancer has spread to all of Ben's organs. Okay, and there was nothing left for us to do but let him go,'' Herbstreit wrote.

News of Ben's death drew an outpouring of support from the college football community.

“Politics aside, I was truly honored to receive a personal message from @POTUS sharing their gratitude and sympathy for the death of our beloved Ben,” Herbstreit wrote in a post on Wednesday.

Biden's letter, dated Nov. 22, spoke of Ben's impact on the community.

“Ben brought so much comfort and unconditional love to millions of Americans across the country. He was there in your happiest moments and your darkest days,” Biden's letter said. “He was sensitive to all kinds of emotions and feelings that cannot be put into words.”

“I know what it's like to lose a beloved pet, and I hope you can find some solace in cherishing the beautiful memories you shared with Ben. It was a child.”

Ben accompanied Herbstreit as he covered “Thursday Night Football” and “College Gameday” for Prime Video and ESPN. As Ben's health issues continue, Herbstreit updated Ben's many fans on social media.

“He was with me at home more than anyone else and traveled with me for work. He's such an easygoing companion. It was a tough day, but he will live in all of us forever. God bless his majestic soul and thank you for letting him be in me.'' The last ten years of my life have been such a blessing, I love you Ben. ”
