On ESPN's “College Gameday” Saturday, one Texas fan had two chances to make a life-changing kick.
Corbin Cessna graduated from Texas State in 2017. He majored in civil engineering but is now a lawyer and said he still has debt from law school.
What was the strategy behind Cessna's big kick?

“Easy, smooth, it's like a little 9-iron, don't kick it too much, that's all,” Cessna said.
The prize was originally scheduled to be $200,000, but the prize was raised to $400,000 after Pat McAfee asked co-host Kirk Herbstreit to match the amount.
problem? Cessna's kick was too soft. The kick was a soft bullet, barely making it halfway towards the uprights sitting 33 yards away.
The kick was so bad that right after the Cessna made contact, McAfee blurted out, “This guy sucks.”
“This guy is the worst ever,” McAfee said.

After peer pressure from the crowd, McAfee upped the ante significantly and gave Cessna another chance to make a successful field goal.
McAfee asked Herbstreit to provide an additional $200,000, which was matched by McAfee, bringing the total up to $800,000.
McAfee then asked special guest picker Timothée Chalamet if he would be involved, and the Hollywood movie star went all in, kicking off the deal with $1.2 million.
The frivolity of the moment struck McAfee.
“Oh my god, it all suddenly became real. The first attempt was really bad, and now I'm getting a $1.2 million surgery.”

He'll probably think about Cessna's second attempt for the rest of his life. He hit his second attack much better, giving him the distance he needed, but the ball hooked to his left and barely missed.
The Cessna jumped on its knees in disbelief, missing the $1.2 million by just a few feet.
Cessna missed the kick, but his No. 2 Texas Longhorns will face No. 1. The fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs will play in the SEC Championship Game with a lot on the line Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
