Homeowner says he heard noise on his balcony early in the morning, found intruder in his residence. But homeowner was armed.

An Ohio homeowner told police he heard noises on his balcony early Sunday morning, spotted an intruder in his home and opened fire.

Westchester Police Department Spokesperson Barb Wilson told WXIX-TV The suspected intruder later died at a hospital. West Chester is about 30 minutes north of Cincinnati.

“If this ever goes to trial, which it probably won't, please put me on the jury. I'll thank him for saving future intruders and maybe people's lives, and I'll send him on his way.”

Police were dispatched to the 7500 block of Shawnee Lane around 5 a.m., Wilson told the station, adding that preliminary reports indicate the homeowner heard suspicious sounds on his balcony and discovered an intruder in his home.

Wilson told WXIX the homeowner has been cooperative with police.

A neighbor spoke to police on camera. interview He said the incident was “very shocking and disturbing. I never expected something like that to happen around here.”

A neighbor who lives across the street from the apartment complex where the incident occurred added to WXIX that she is wondering what caused the incident and is now concerned for the safety of her children.
