Stephen A. Smith backs a Timothée Chalamet sports media ‘pivot’

Timothy Chalamlet has a sports media mentor in Stephen A. Smith.

Just days after the “Dune” star surprised much of the sports community with his memorable appearance on ESPN's “College Gameday.” Smith posted on Wednesday to X He told Chalamet, 28, “I'm doing it to show you the ropes.”

“See you again @RealChalamet. Feel free to give me tips anytime,” the “First Take” personality wrote.

Smith's post was in response to Chalamet's red carpet interview shared on the Entertainment Tonight page on Tuesday night.

During the exchange, Chalamet, who plays Bob Dylan in the new film Completely Unknown, joked about his move to ESPN.

“Oddly enough, five years ago, the idea of ​​a Bob Dylan movie came to me, and my hopes were all right. We'd shoot this movie, and then we'd turn around with promotions and do it on ESPN and TV shows. Like any sportscasting job, acting is not really a reliable job, as you know. “If I can get a nice six- to eight-month gig on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith style, that’s the new 1A,” he said.

Chalamet joined the College GameDay desk in Atlanta on Saturday ahead of the SEC title game between Georgia and Texas.

He showcased his deep knowledge of the SWAC and MAC conferences, beating out the likes of Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit.

“Jackson State, eight straight wins, 11 all-conference players — this should be an easy win for them,” Chalamet said before Jackson State's win over Southern.
