Eli Manning responds after getting roasted over subway ride

Two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning claimed he was contractually prohibited from riding the subway while playing for the New York Giants.

Manning, now 43, posted a photo of himself. × At a subway stop on the 6th subway line in New York City in early December. “I rode the subway for the first time!'' she happily captioned it.

Needless to say, his supporters did not share his enthusiasm.

“Sometimes we forget just how rich the rich are,” said one soccer fan. I wrote.

“Wait, you were the QB for the New York Giants for like 15 years, right? You never rode the subway?” another fan said. asked.

“My contract when I was playing didn't allow me to ride the subway.”

After Manning received enough flak online, his older brother and fellow legend Peyton Manning decided to make fun of him on his show “The Manning Cast.”

Peyton began, “Eli, this was very shocking to me. I thought you were a folk person?”

“You've been living there since 2004. Is this your first time riding the subway? That's disappointing,” my brother said. said With fake disgust.

“I'm a man of the people!” Eli retorted. “I live in New Jersey. I'm not in the city that often. I was in the city last week too. I had to go from uptown to downtown, so I hopped on the subway. “I'm a folk person,'' he explained.

Eli then reveals that he is contractually prohibited from riding the obviously dangerous New York City subway.

“My contract when I was active didn't allow me to ride the subway. I could have been pushed in front of a train.”

Peyton raised an eyebrow and replied, “Really? Really? Like, 'No skiing, no subway.'”

“There are no bikes or subways in New York,” Eli admitted. “We have to stay safe.”

It's nearly impossible to tell when the Manning brothers are being sarcastic or serious, but it's a perfectly normal safety measure for NFL teams to restrict player activities outside of football.

ESPN report The magazine revealed that in June, citing Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes losing money if he gets injured playing basketball.

The report also mentioned running back Nyheim Hines, who was injured on a jet ski in 2023 and tore his left ACL and MCL.

Former Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Malik McDowell suffered a concussion in an ATV accident in 2017, and the list goes on.

It would make sense for Manning to be subject to such restrictions since he has three different large contracts worth $54 million, $97.5 million and $84 million during his career.

After paying over $250 million, it's understandable that the Giants wanted to avoid a potentially harmful situation for their quarterback.
