Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) said Friday on MSNBC's “The Ana Cabrera Report” that the federal government needs to explain to the public about the mysterious drones flying over New Jersey.
“Based on their analysis, there is no reason in my mind that there is a credible threat to public safety at this time,” Gottheimer said. Based on what I've been told by, I'm satisfied with the hundreds of sightings we've received in New Jersey, the calls I've received, the images, and now in New Jersey. Sen. Andy Kim said he saw it himself. He posted something about it, obviously something is going on. And what's driving me crazy is the state government, and Of course many of our colleagues in the federal government are wondering what's going on in the sky. I think you're talking about the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, which are primarily responsible for monitoring and being aware of where these drones are coming from and who is sending them. I don't provide enough information to tell you exactly what they are, you know, and what they are. And that's why I think people deserve to know. It's natural for people to be worried if they don't have any information.”
He continued, “I called on the FBI, along with DHS, to immediately explain to the entire country and the state of New Jersey what is happening.”
He added: “That's what I'm calling on them to do: come clean, come forward and tell the people.” I have introduced legislation to prevent drones from flying over areas where they should not fly. ”
“There is no threat to public safety at this time, but again, I understand why you want answers and the federal government, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security… I think we have an obligation to get answers,” he concluded. That's my message, don't worry, yes, but let's make sure we get the answer to what this is. ”
