British actress Gemma Arterton doesn't agree with the idea of a gender-swapped James Bond, thinking movie fans would find it “outrageous”.
In a recent interview with British media, timesArterton pointed out that it seems ridiculous that James Bond is portrayed as a woman.
“Wouldn't a man play a female James Bond, like Mary Poppins?” she wondered. “They're talking about it, but people will think it's too outrageous.”

Arterton played British intelligence agent Strawberry Fields in the 2008 Bond film Quantum of Solace, the second film in the series starring Daniel Craig. She argued that Hollywood should respect the character's legacy and not choose to change it.
“Sometimes you have to respect tradition,” she says.
Following Craig's last role as a spy in 2021's No Time to Die, producers are considering a shake-up for the series, including changing the title character's identity. Remaking has become a popular topic in Hollywood circles in recent years.
Craig weighed in on this idea, stating that he doesn't think Bond's gender should be swapped. Instead, he thinks a similar series with a female protagonist could be the approach.
“Why should a woman play James Bond when a role as good as James Bond should be played by a woman?” he asked in a 2021 Radio Times interview.

Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has expressed openness to an actor of a different race playing James Bond. African-British actor Idris Elba has long wanted to play the legendary role, but recently ruled out playing the role.
But Broccoli threw cold water on the idea of a female James Bond.
she told Variety magazine in 2020.“He could be any skin color, but he's a man. I think we need to create new characters for women, strong female characters. I would take a male character and have a woman play him. I'm not particularly interested in that. I'd rather be a woman.'' It's much more interesting than that. ”
In a separate interview, Broccoli expressed openness to Bond identifying as “non-binary” and using they/them pronouns.
When asked about that prospect on the 2021 podcast Girls On Film, he replied: Broccoli replied“Who knows? I mean, I think it's open. We just need to find the right actor.”

Some have floated the idea that Bond is gay. At a press conference at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, a journalist asked Craig, “Do you think there's a possibility of a gay James Bond?”
The actor rolled his eyes at the question.
Ms Arterton told the Times she was confused as to why she was still associated with the title 'Bond girl', given that her role in the 2008 film was so minor. Her character was killed off minutes after she appeared.
“I don't regret being in a Bond movie, but I'm confused why a Bond movie would come after me. I was in the movie for only five minutes,” she said.
