An Al Jazeera cameraman was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Nuseirat, central Gaza, on Sunday, with Israel saying he was also an Islamic Jihad terrorist.

An Israeli airstrike killed Palestinian journalist Ahmed al-Rowe and five members of the Palestinian Civil Defense in the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza.
Al-Rowe, who worked as a cameraman for Al-Jazeera among other news organizations, was killed Sunday in an attack on a civil defense facility in the central Gaza camp, doctors and local journalists said.

Al-Jazeera Arabic reported that Mr. Al-Roo was working while wearing a news vest and helmet during the time he was killed. He was taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah city, Gaza.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) posted a statement referring to the same person.
Earlier today (Sunday), on instructions from the IDF and ISA intelligence services, the IAF carried out precision strikes against Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists operating from a command and control center embedded in the offices of the “Civil Defense” organization in Nuseyrat. .
The command and control center was used by terrorists to plan and carry out impending terrorist attacks against IDF forces.
Among the terrorists eliminated in the attack was Islamic Jihad terrorist Ahmed Bakr al-Rauf. He previously served as a platoon leader in the Central Camp Brigade of Islamic Jihad.
A number of measures were taken prior to the attack to reduce the risk of harm to civilians, including the use of precision weapons, precise aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence gathering.
Terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip systematically violate international law and use civilian infrastructure and the Gaza population as human shields for terrorist activities. The IDF continues its operations against terrorist organizations to protect the Israeli people.
Several Al Jazeera journalists were killed in the war. Some of the network's employees have been identified as terrorists who are performing a “double duty” of covering the Qatar-based network's anti-Israel propaganda.
Israel shut down Al Jazeera's regional office in May after the government found that the group was acting in a way that undermined national security.
