AOC Loses Bid To Serve As Top Democrat On House Oversight Committee

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) lost her bid to become the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.

On Tuesday, Ocasio-Cortez (D.N.Y.) lost her candidacy to Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) by a vote of 131-84.

“I appreciate the support of my colleagues and the confidence they have placed in me as the House Democratic leader on the Oversight Committee,” Connolly said in a statement.

Connolly, who revealed last month that he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer, told reporters after Tuesday's victory that he was “ready” to take on the Trump administration despite health concerns. Ta.

“Trump may feel bolder than before, but he could also be more reckless,” Connolly said. “We have laws in this country and we are going to make sure they are enforced.”
