More than 500,000 winter tires recalled due to poor traction in snow

(WJET/WFXP) — Prinx Chengshan Tire North America (PCTNA) has issued a recall for the following products: 540,000 snow tiresdoes not comply with North American standards due to lack of adequate traction on snow.

PCTNA's recall affects both Fortune Tormenta and Prix High Country tires over size 100 that feature the three-peaked snowflake symbol on the sidewall.

According to the document, the tires were manufactured between August 24, 2020 and December 7, 2024. These replacement tires are sold as snow tires and have passed European standards and are now designated as snow tires in Europe.

However, there is no correlation between North American and European standards. Several sample sizes were tested using North American standards but were unsuccessful.
