Most of us grew up standing proudly in our public school classrooms every morning with our right hand over our chest and pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States, but we often wonder why we say these things. Have you ever stopped and thought about it? Are you saying?
For those who don't have it, glenn beck He set the record straight with an amazing speech he gave at AmFest last weekend.
First, Glenn explains that “I pledge” is a “promise.” The promise of “loyalty” is “loyalty” to the national flag, “the symbol of our country.”
Glenn says that “for a republic'' refers to “a state in which the supreme power rests with the people.''
“What it means is one nation,” he says, “a people in every land, in every land, conscious of its unity. You cannot have a nation unless you are conscious of it. And what unites us is what we have forgotten: God, who is indivisible.”
“Liberty and justice for all. Free from tyrannical rule with laws that are equal and just for everyone, not just me. This is what we pledge. It's not about the flag. Someone. If we want to know if someone is truly on our side, we look for these things: someone who takes seriously the solemn promise of loyalty to the republic, the nation, to which the supreme power is entrusted to all of us. “I'm looking for it,” he continued.
“We remain resolute and steadfast in defending these things. We believe in our Creator. “If you don't believe in your Creator, I don't see how you can truly understand America. Because we are different,” he continued, adding, “We are different from the rest of the world.”
