Postal worker arrested allegedly contaminated A strange substance had been left in a mailbox in New Branford, Conn., for months, but it was only caught after one of the victims installed a surveillance camera.
Mike Barli told WFSB-TV that he had been taking photos of the substance in the facility's mailbox for several months, but needed to get better evidence. He believed the culprit was an allegedly disgruntled postal worker.
“I don't want to see people in trouble, and I don't want to see her lose her job. But I don't want her back here.”
He said he called police about 10 times over an eight-month period before getting the video footage.
“At that point, it was our promise until I got the camera and set it up and ended up letting her film it,” Barli said. “Once they got the footage, they took action.”
Barulli provided WFSB with footage of a postal worker quickly smearing something onto a mailbox.
North Branford Police identified the U.S. Postal Service employee as 62-year-old Donna Sufjan Conyers.
Police have registered two cases against Sufjan Conyers. One was on December 4th and the other on December 12th. She was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, but was released on $11,000 bail.
Barli said the incident meant nothing because the residents of the complex treated her well.
“We were giving her water, giving her Red Bull water. Two years ago for Christmas, we gave her $100 and all of a sudden she lost it.” he said.
There were many different substances reportedly According to residents and police, the mailbox was dirty.
“When the police looked at it, they saw something brown and they said it was chocolate frosting. They also had no idea what it was,” Mike said. “I hate to see people get into trouble, and I hate to see her lose her job. But I don't want her back here.”
