Some immigrants have mixed feelings about their situation in New York City.

Monday, New York Times A report has been published Some of the 55,000 immigrants still sheltering in New York City. In particular, it focused on the hotels built at Floyd Bennett Field, converted office buildings, and people living in tent dormitories.

“We were spoiled,” Henao said. “This was never my idea. I did not leave my homeland under the circumstances I fled for this.”

Some migrants have expressed fear while living in shelters, believing they will soon become targets of raids under the Trump administration.

However, the NYT seems to downplay criticism of the immigration crisis.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams appears willing to work with Trump's next border czar, Tom Homan, to begin deporting illegal immigrants. Homan told Sean Hannity earlier this month that he was already talking to Adams about a potential strategy.

“He really cares about public safety and puts politics aside. He wants to help ICE take criminal threats off the streets. He wants to help ICE look for national security threats. He wants to help ICE find more than 340,000 missing children. It's going to be a great meeting,” Homan said.
