Kuster acknowledged that most voters in the 2024 election want a different government, due to concerns about inflation, the border crisis, and rising crime and security problems.
“There are many reasons why people voted, but I don't think the Trump administration's approach will solve their problems. I mean, just take tariffs. If he puts it on, the price of food will go up significantly. “Yes,” she said during roll call.
She also blamed Democrats' loss in the 2024 election on many young voters feeling that “for quite some time, the face of our party was an octogenarian.”
“Somehow we missed the opportunity to connect with an entire generation who, by the laws of nature, thought were more progressive and closer to our point of view,” she said.
Kuster said she is “literally exhausted” because she is from a red-to-purple district. She added that the long-time councilors representing the Deep Blue district didn't seem to have had as difficult an election as hers.
She predicted that Democrats would win the 2026 midterm elections and the 2028 presidential election with “the following results.” [Trump’s] policy. ”
“I will continue to be involved, but I will not be voting,” she added, explaining that she will continue to work to restore the Democratic majority to women in Congress.
Kuster delivered her Final address in Congress on December 18th.
