Former Bush-Cheney political strategist Matthew Dowd said Thursday on “MSNBC Reports” that President Joe Biden is trying to box in President-elect Donald Trump in his final public act as president.
Guest host Richard Louie said, “Matthew, this has been a busy week for the president. We're talking about the cuts bill that took place last weekend, and a number of bills were signed by the president. There is also the issue of increasing the number of judges.
He asked, “What do you expect him to do in the next three weeks while the effects last?”
“So I think what he's trying to do is corner Donald Trump and box him in so he can do it,” Dowd said. I think they're trying to stop it.” Do as much damage as he can. After becoming president, he was able to do many things. But I think Joe Biden is trying to box him in on this. Not surprisingly, Donald Trump doesn't understand the difference between commutation and pardon, especially when it comes to communications people. ”
He added: “It comes from the president's Christian spirit and worldview. As a Christian, I'll say this personally, I'm against the death penalty. It's amazing how seriously he approaches a problem. He might as well have quoted Dickens' Scrooge and said, well, it's ridiculous.”
Dowd added: “I think Joe Biden is trying to corral Donald Trump as much as possible.”
