On Friday's “PBS NewsHour,” new york times Columnist David Brooks supports Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy in the immigration debate, but says, “If we want Americans to support immigration, we have to secure our borders.” said.
“I'm more of a Ramaswamy Elon Musk guy,” Brooks said. “But I have to say that the way they're expressing it is incredibly condescending. For example, Ramaswamy is calling people ignorant. It's basically saying you don't know how to raise a child.”
He then added: “I think if you want to have an American public that supports immigration, you have to control the border. We've seen it in Germany. We've seen it all over the world. The fact that for people it seems out of control, many people wonder, what is going on here? And, frankly, cheap to the educated class. Although labor-giving immigration policies have been in place, many people working and competing for their jobs feel that we are ignoring the plight of others. So there's a class perspective here. But if you want the American people to support immigration, you have to secure the border.”
