The bodies of a British woman and her fiance were found in a separate room at a tourist villa in Vietnam, police said.
The victims were locally identified as 33-year-old British national Greta Marie Otteson and 36-year-old South African Arno Else Quinton, who were staying at a complex in Hoi An, central Quang Nam province.
The body was discovered by villa staff and police officers at 11:18 a.m. on December 26.
According to media reports, Oteson's body was found in a bed on the first floor, while Quinton was found in the same position in another room.
Forensic tests showed no evidence of physical trauma or violence, and no signs of a break-in, website VnExpress reported.
The two victims had registered for a long-term temporary stay at the tourist villa since July 4 last year.
Investigators noticed several used alcohol bottles at the scene.
Ottosson previously worked in Dubai as a social media marketing manager and Quinton worked as a barista.
A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Department spokesperson said on Thursday: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Vietnam and are liaising with local authorities.”
Dale Visser Quinton's friend wrote to X: “Rest in Peace, little brother. Thank you for always being a passionate friend. You have saved me so many times. You are real and you work harder in life than most people dream of. I love you and I will always miss you.”
