NYC official appears to defy mayor’s deportation agenda by urging legal aid donations for illegal aliens

New York City officials appear to be defying Democratic Mayor Eric Adams' deportation policies by urging people to donate to nonprofits that provide free legal aid to illegal immigrants.

Vladek did not respond to a request for comment, and City Hall did not respond to a request for comment, the Post reported.

About two weeks before Vladek's social media post, Adams met with Tom Homan, President-elect Donald Trump's next border czar.

Adams has said he does not support President Trump's mass deportation plan, but he has pledged that the government will help remove illegal aliens who have committed violent crimes in the United States.

Mr. Homan reported that his meeting with Mr. Adams “went well.”

“He understands that, and today he proved as mayor of New York that he cares more about public safety than politics,” Homan told Fox News' Sean Hannity.

Mr. Adams' plan to meet Mr. Homan sparked a protest outside City Hall, with activists calling on the mayor to “veto Mr. Homan” and “separate the family.” One demonstrator accused Adams of “sneaking in on the Trump administration.”
