ESPN just barely avoids disaster with dancing Lee Corso

Before Notre Dame beat Penn State on Thursday, there was an almost harrowing scene on ESPN when 89-year-old Lee Corso nearly collapsed on the set.

The “College Football GameDay'' analysts were accompanied by Notre Dame's mascot as they performed “The Jig,'' a folk dance synonymous with Irish culture.

Corso was dancing with the mascot when he grabbed the mascot's right arm and took a step back, nearly causing the analyst to fall.

Luckily, the leprechaun mascot catches him and helps him regain his balance, which saves the day.

Corso appeared to backstep into a set prop that featured a Notre Dame helmet lined up next to a Penn State helmet.

The longtime ESPN personality has been with the network since the 1980s and will do what he always does when picking Notre Dame to win a game.

ESPN president of content Burke Magnus said Corso will discuss his future with the network this offseason.

previously SI Media Podcast with Jimmy TrainaMagnus said he would approach Corso after the season to decide on his future course of action.

“Listen, I think we're going to be doing what we've been doing for a few years in a row, which means we're going to talk to him after the season and see how things are going,” Magnus said.

Notre Dame defeated Penn State 27-24 after quarterback Drew Allard threw an incredible interception in the final moments.

With a chance to make the winning field goal, Aller threw the ball back across his body for an interception that would ultimately end the Nittany Lions' season.

Notre Dame's victory means they will once again be in the national title game, which will be broadcast on ESPN, against the winner of the Ohio State vs. Texas game.
