Edison utility’s equipment blamed for helping start LA wildfires in property owners’ suit

Edison International's Southern California power company has been hit with a lawsuit after the energy provider's equipment caught fire during one of California's wildfires, Bloomberg News reported Monday.

The fires, which started last Tuesday, have killed at least 24 people and forced more than 150,000 residents to evacuate their homes. Officials say more than 20 people are missing.

The lawsuit is being filed on behalf of a group of homeowners, tenants, business owners and other property destroyed in the Eaton Fire in the Pasadena area, the paper said. report.

Edison International's stock price fell nearly 13%.

The unit, Southern California Edison, did not respond to a Reuters request for comment.
