Karl-Anthony Towns out of Knicks’ lineup vs. 76ers with new injury

PHILADELPHIA — Karl-Anthony Towns is once again out of the Knicks lineup due to a recent injury.

Towns missed three games earlier this season with a sore knee and will miss Wednesday's game against the 76ers after being reported for injury with a sprained right thumb, according to Stephen Bondy.

Sixers centers Joel Embiid (left ankle sprain) and Andre Drummond (toe) are also scheduled to miss the game, making the former NBA MVP his sixth consecutive game.

The Knicks have not yet revealed their starting lineup, but Jericho Sims has started the last three games Towns has missed this season and is playing for the Knicks for the first time since being traded from Minnesota in September. .

Sims was listed as questionable after missing Monday's home game against the Pistons due to back spasms.

Towns appeared to injure his hand in the first half of that game, but he finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds in 43 minutes.

The 7-footer played in 38 games, averaging 25.4 points and 13.9 rebounds per game, second-most in the NBA.
