A Queensland man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly setting a woman on fire in a horrific act of domestic violence at a home in Brisbane's south.
The 34-year-old woman was rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition after being treated by paramedics at the scene in the Logan suburb of Kingston on Saturday morning. Police said she suffered severe burns.
The 36-year-old Kingston man was charged Saturday night with attempted murder, common assault and domestic violence violations.
Police said authorities were called to Kingston Courthouse around 7:45 a.m. to reports of an “altercation” between a man and a woman and found the woman with burns to her body. They would claim that the man was “manufacturing lighters and lighted objects.” [her] burning”.
Police said the property where the woman was found has been identified as a crime scene, and a “secondary” crime scene is located at Gould Adams Park on Kingston Road and Kingston Station.
Police are objecting to bail and the man is due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
