“You're going to be at the inauguration tomorrow. What's your message to the incoming Trump team about the importance of seeing this through?” ABC News' Jonathan Karl tells Jonathan Dekerchen on “This Week.” I asked about.
“Well, first of all, we are extremely grateful,” said Dekel Chen, father of hostage Sagi Dekel Chen.
Jonathan Dekel Chen also said that President Biden's team has “undoubtedly done an exceptional job in putting together the superstructure of this agreement.”
“But it took President-elect Trump's tweet and subsequent statement to understand this issue. And what we ask of President Trump and his team is that this is the Middle East, so this issue has always been Just keep an eye out,” he added. “This is an unstable place.”
On Sunday, a new ceasefire agreement came into effect, halting fighting in Gaza. The cessation of fighting in the area is part of the first phase of the ceasefire, which also includes the release of 33 hostages held by Hamas for more than a year.

White House chief of national security adviser John Feiner also said Sunday that Trump's team provided “significant support” to the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
