President Donald Trump has revoked Mike Pompeo's taxpayer-funded national security detail, according to four people familiar with the matter. new york times Maggie Haberman.
The Secret Service says only former presidents and their spouses are automatically granted continued protection.
Mr. Pompeo, President Trump's former CIA director and secretary of state, will likely have to pay his own way to fend off Mr. Haberman's attack. called “persistent threat”
President Trump also saved taxpayers money by stripping former national security adviser John Bolton and former national security adviser Brian Hook of Pompeo of their security.

Mr. Pompeo and Mr. Hook had security details apparently provided to them by the State Department removed on Tuesday, one of the people briefed on the matter said. The day before, Mr. Trump released details of the U.S. Secret Intelligence Service of John R. Bolton, his third national security adviser and also under threat.
With the exception of former presidents and their spouses, senior U.S. officials are not automatically afforded continued protection. Mr. Trump told the nation that he did not want anyone who worked for Mr. Pompeo during his first term to work for him. He removed Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars presidential appointee several days ago through a social media post.
John Bolton was very upset to learn that he would have to pay for his own safety.
“I am disappointed, but not surprised, by President Trump's decision to end the protections previously provided by the U.S. Secret Service,” Bolton wrote on X. “Despite my criticism of President Biden's national security policy, he still made the decision to extend it'' Protect me in 2021. ”
