Republicans to Hold Senate Open Nights, Weekends to Confirm Trump Nominees

Barrasso spoke Breitbart News Saturday After the Senate, host Matthew Boyle confirmed Pete Hegseth on Friday night, shortly before Senate Republicans vote to make Kristi Noem the next Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary. Right before the members vote. Also on Saturday, the Senate will vote to advance Treasury nominee Scott Bessent.

Senate Republicans began holding the Senate in session after Senate Democrats began delaying Trump's nominees.

Barrasso said he saw this type of tactic with the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

“They pulled out every stop they could,” he said.

“We'll work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We're going to install President Trump's Cabinet,” the Wyoming senator declared.

He said Senate Republicans want to pass significant legislation and said Laken Riley would act as an example.

Barrasso noted significant changes from previous parliamentary terms.

“I can’t remember the last time the Senate was last in force or even voted on a Friday night,” he said.

“The country needs it. It's not just President Trump. The country needs it. It needs a secure border. It's going to save lives,” Barrasso said.

he continued. “Americans want us to get our country back on track, and the last four years have been off track.”

“I think Donald Trump has done more for the good of the country in the past week than Joe Biden has done in the last four years.”
