The station reported that his parents were notified of the accident around 5 pm, but did not go to the hospital before he was declared.

“We lost a little boy last night,” his stepfather Nathan Ghidr, told the station.

“He didn't tell me where to go. He told his grandpa to go to a friend's house, but that was not where he went.”

Creel was autistic and did not know how to swim. His parents have never met a friend he was fishing together.

“He has always returned home,” said Gidley. “I miss him very much.”

“He was a beloved brother and enjoyed spending time with his younger brother,” said Kreel's aunt on a fund raising page.

“He also liked to play video games and work on computers and outdoors. Samuel loves his toy police car and is interested in becoming a police officer.”

Ogden's deputy fire department chief, Mike Slator, warned people to leave the water because he did not know how thin the ice was.

“Sometimes, it may snow on the ice, and it may be fooled,” he said. I told KUTV.

“It may look thicker than that, as I say, you never know where the flowing water is.”
