Sen. Chris Coons (d-del.) said Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by billionaire Elon Musk, “dipped a hole in all American personal information.” President Trump's agenda.
The Coons joined CNN on Thursday, where they were asked about Trump's proposal to take over Gaza and rebuild the area.
“Where do tens of millions of dollars and expertise come from?” Coons said of the president's proposal. “If all Arab and Muslim countries in the region are forcibly opposed to the idea that Palestinians will relocate and do not support this, they have said publicly.
Delaware Democrats argued that the idea of restructuring Gaza was “not a serious proposal.” He noted that the Trump administration has recognized the dismantling of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
The president has received acute criticism of the idea, and some Democrats have called it “ethnic cleansing.” Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) presented an article on the issue in Ammunition each, with some Republicans pushing the idea back, including Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY.).
“We don't pay attention to the fact that under Elon Musk's instructions they dug holes in these dog people,” Coons said.
Over the weekend, Doge officials had access to the Treasury Federal Payment System. Democrats expressed shock and concern, and some stressed that secret Americans' confidential information could have been potentially breached.
The Treasury system manages $6 trillion per year. It distributes social security, Medicare, federal workers' pay, grant recipients and government contractor payments, and tax refund funds.
“They dug holes in all American personal information. We should all be wary and blocked in federal court,” Coons said.
The Justice Department agreed on Wednesday to block the number of people who have access to the system.
