Trump Bars Aid to South Africa; Offers Asylum to ‘Afrikaner Refugees’

President Donald Trump suspended aid to South Africa on Friday and signed an executive order dedicated to “African refugees.”

The order is the latest salvo in the recent battle with South Africa, and Trump could theoretically take away his property without compensation after halting aid due to South Africa's recent expropriation laws.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa responded by dismissing Trump's claims. declare In his annual national speech this week, “We are not bullied,” he did not explicitly mention Trump.

Trump responded with an executive order I'll declare itin part:

Section 1. The Republic of South Africa (South Africa) shocked and ignored citizens' rights and recently enacted the 2024 Expropriation Act 13 (ACT) to allow the South African government to seize the agricultural property of minority Africans without compensation. I've done it. The law follows countless government policies designed to dismantle equal opportunities for employment, education and business, and promotes disproportionate violence against racially disadvantaged landowners and Following government actions.

Furthermore, South Africa attacks the United States and its allies, denounce Israel rather than Hamas, not genocide in the International Court of Justice, and reinvigorate relations with Iran and develop commercial, military and nuclear arrangements. It has achieved a position like this.

The US supports the South African Government's Committee on Infringement in the Countries or “undermining US foreign policy that poses national security threats to our nation, our allies, our African partners and our interests.” You cannot do so.

2 seconds. policy. As long as South Africa continues to carry on these unfair and immoral practices that harm our country, it is US policy.
(a) The United States shall not provide assistance or assistance to South Africa. and
(b) The United States shall promote resettlement of African refugees who flee government-sponsored racially-based discrimination, including the confiscation of racist property.

3 seconds. support. (a) All enforcement departments and agencies (agencies), including the US International Development Agency, shall suspend or be made available to South Africa to the fullest extent permitted by law. All authorities shall exert promptly and the discretion to suspend such assistance or assistance.
(b) The head of each agency may permit, at the discretion of the relevant agency, to provide such foreign assistance or assistance that is necessary or appropriate.

The latter provision aims to protect the US Presidential Emergency Program for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which has been providing antiretroviral drugs to South Africans since the time of President Thabo Mbeki, who denied HIV caused AIDS. It seems to be doing that.

Africans are disproportionately represented in the agricultural sector of South Africa.
