Video: Thug attacks elderly church member sweeping in front of neighborhood house of worship, steals his wallet

Surveillance video captured the moment a man physically attacked and stole the wallet of an elderly church member who was cleaning up in front of a nearby Atlanta place of worship over the weekend.

The robbery took place Saturday before 5:30pm in front of the River of Life Christian Center at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW. WSB-TV reportedcited Atlanta police. The church is located near Adamsville, the station said.

“I feel like the butler. I'm so sad that it happened.”

The 79-year-old church member said, as an individual approached him, demanded a wallet, pushed him down, reached into his pocket, took his wallet, citing a police report.

Investigators shared a video showing an individual pushing the victim to the ground, and the station said the force of the protruding force and autumn knocked out the victim's shoes and glasses.

Police told WSB that the victim suffered multiple cuts and bruises as a result of the attack.

“I feel like a butler,” Janai Bhukan, owner of a nearby ice cream shop, told the station in a subsequent interview. “I'm very sad that it happened.”

According to WSB, surveillance video of the attack shows six cars passing by.

Additionally, the station said the attack took place in a busy section of the neighborhood. It is right next to the Adamsville Library, just feet from the old Adamsville emergency shelter and adjacent to the Boucan ice cream shop.

“I'm literally on the sidewalk. My sign tells people to come to the ice cream shop and tell people to get ice cream on a beautiful warm day,” Boukan told WSB. I did.

Boucan's surveillance video shows them walking past two customers and walking to the front of the church where the attack took place.

The WSB says the area is covered in camera coverage, and neighboring families hope that those videos will lead to the capture of suspects and some mental recovery.

“I'm telling others to keep an eye on it and look for it,” Bhukan told the station.
